Gradely Teachers’ Academy 2nd Edition: The Recap

Gradely launched its second edition of Teachers’ Training Academy on Monday, May 3rd, 2021 at the Cedar Center, Yaba, Lagos State, and via Facebook live stream with the theme: Remedial Teaching Strategies.

The goal of this training session was to equip teachers with the knowledge, skills, and tools required to deliver Remedial Teaching by identifying and supporting struggling students; and also students with special needs. More than 100 teachers benefitted from this hands-on training session.

Attendees were addressed and trained by three incredible facilitators in the industry:

Mr. Oyekan Oluwafemi – Prinicipal, Reri Senior Secondary School, and President, Science Teachers Association (STA) Lagos State Chapter.

Mr. Oluwafemi led the conversation on the behavioral strategies for struggling students. Explaining that these kinds of students lack skills such as listening, presentation, and self-motivation. He also added that these learners often require extra time to complete tasks, as well as experience difficulty in memorization. Watch the full training session below.

Durojaiye Titilayomi – Head, Special Educational Needs at Blooming Lights Montessori Schools.

Mrs. Durojaiye offered intensive training on how to identify and support learners with special needs. She urged teachers to take note of learners who struggle with these 4 main areas: Communication and Interaction, Cognition and Learning, Social, Emotional, and Mental Health Difficulties, Sensory and/or Physical Needs. Boye Oshinage – Co-founder and CEO of Gradely Technology Solutions.

Mr. Oshinaga took teachers through assessment strategies for delivering better learning results. His training session helped teachers understand that the purpose of assessment is to evaluate students’ understanding. Explaining that if a child does not realise that there is a gap in his/her learning, an educator has not yet gotten permission to start teaching. Watch the full training session below.
